Selective Catalytic Reduction is an aftertreatment system that reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines. The system injects diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) into the exhaust stream, which converts NOx into nitrogen and water. The SCR system uses a catalyst to facilitate the chemical reaction that converts NOx into harmless nitrogen and water.
